some main sanctuaries in the South such as: Nam Cat Tien National Park and Lang
Bian Mount in Da Lat Central Highland Station. In order to give you various
aspects of the nature in Vietnam, we would like to introduce sanctuaries in the
North like Cuc Phuong and Tam Dao National Parks. And this diversification will
be a special part to enrich your discovery of the nature not only in Vietnam but
also around the world.
Day 1: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City (D)

Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City. Meet at the airport and transfer to hotel. The rest
of the day is at leisure. Overnight in HCMC.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City (B, L, D)
A morning city tour of dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, former Saigon with its
Presidential Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office, a lacquerware
factory and Thien Hau Pagoda in the city's bustling Chinatown. The afternoon is
at leisure to relax or finalize preparations for the bird watching. Overnight in
HCMC.
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City- Nam Cat Tien (B, L, D)
Drive to Nam Cat Tien National Park, 170km from HCMC in Dong Nai Province. Once
off Highway 1, the road passes through large areas of rubber plantations before
branching off the highway on a rough track to the National Park. An incredible
diversity of birds and mammals, live in the forest and wetland habitats of Nam
Cat Tien, including an estimated 230 species of birds. Endangered birds to be
found here include White-winged Duck, White-shouldered Ibis and Orange-necked
Partridge. Mammal species include Indochinese Tiger, Asian Elephant and the last
surviving Javan Rhino outside of Indonesia. Afternoon bird watching. Overnight
in Nam Cat Tien.
Day 4: Nam Cat Tien (B, L, D)
A full day of bird watching at Nam Cat Tien. Interesting species to look out for
include Green Peafowl, Germain's Peacock-Pheasant, Pale-Headed Woodpecker,
Bar-bellied Pitta, Green Imperial Pigeon and Mountain Hawk-Eagle. Overnight in
Nam Cat Tien.
Day 5: Nam Cat Tien-Da Lat (B, L , D)
Wake up early before the dawn appear from the East and hide yourself behind a
bush or a tree to witness the fantastic moment when all the birds wake up and
sing and dance for a new day. A morning of bird watching. Leave for Da Lat after
lunch. It is a scenic drive through tea and coffee plantations to the cooler
climes of the former colonial hill station, Da Lat. Transfer to hotel on arrival
in Da Lat. In the evening, take a horse-carriage to cycle around Xuan Huong Lake
or just sit silently in a hill-cafe and dream of our pretty birds. Overnight in
Da Lat.
Day 6: Da Lat (B, L, D)
A full day of bird watching at Mount Lang Bian where the evergreen forests is
home to a diversity of bird life unmatched in Southeast Asia. Key species to be
found at Mount Lang Bian include Silver Pheasant, Vietnamese Greenfinch,
Indochinese Cuckooshrike, Rufous-capped Babbler and Yellow-billed Nuthatch.
Overnight in Da Lat.
Day 7: Da Lat (B, L, D)
Tuyen Lam Lake, only 3km from the centre of town, is Da Lat's other hotspot for
birders. Take a boat to far side of the lake where a track leads through scrub
up to areas of tropical evergreen forest. This is where the Grey-crowned Crocias
was recently re-discovered after not being seen for 60 years. Other interesting
species here include Red-vented Barbet, Spotted Forktail, Cutia, Black-headed,
Spot-breasted, White-cheeked and Collared Laughing thrush. Overnight in Da Lat.
Day 8: Da Lat - Hanoi (B, L, D)
Transfer to Lien Khuong Airport 30km south of Da Lat for the daily flight to
Hanoi. Transfer to hotel on arrival in Hanoi. The rest of the day is at leisure
in Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 9: Hanoi - Cuc Phuong (B, L, D)
Drive to Cuc Phuong National Park, 160 km south of Hanoi. The first National
Park to be established in Vietnam, Cuc Phuong is an area of limestone hills
covered with large tracts of primeval rainforest. Afternoon bird watching.
Overnight in Cuc Phuong.
Day 10: Cuc Phuong (B, L, D)
A full day's bird watching on the trails of Cuc Phuong. Over 300 bird species
and 65 mammal species can be found here including Indochinese Tiger, Clouded
Leopard and the endangered Delacour Langur. Key bird species here include Grey
Peacock-Pheasant, Brown Hornbill, Blue-rumped Pitta, White-winged Magpie and
Narcissus Flycatcher. Overnight in Cuc Phuong.
Day 11: Cuc Phuong-Hanoi (B, L, D)
A morning of bird watching before driving back to Hanoi in the afternoon.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 12: Hanoi - Tam Dao (B, L, D)
Leave Hanoi by road for Tam Dao, a hill station 85 km north of Hanoi. Afternoon
bird watching in the evergreen forest. The specialties of Tam Dao include Pied
Falconet, Ratchet-tailed Treepie, Bar-backed Partridge, Fork-tailed Sunbird and
Pin-tailed pigeon. Overnight in Tam Dao.
Day 13: Tam Dao (B, L, D)
A full day for bird watching in the forests of Tam Dao. Overnight in Tam Dao.
Day 14: Tam Dao - Hanoi (B, L, D)
Morning free for bird watching before returning to Hanoi in the afternoon.
Transfer to hotel on arrival. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 15: Hanoi (B, L, D)
A morning city of Vietnam's charming capital city includes such sights as
Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the one Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, the
Sword Lake and the Old Quarter. The afternoon is at leisure to relax or shop for
souvenirs. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 16: Departure (B)
At leisure until transfer to Noi Bai Airport for onward flight.
