The Cat Tien National Park is located in the three provinces
of Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Binh Phuoc and located approximately 150km north-east
of Ho Chi Minh City. Vegetation is varied and made up of seasonally flooded
grassland and swamp forest. The wetland is bounded to the east, south and west
by dense humid evergreen forest with Hills support semi-evergreen and deciduous
forest. As well as the wild life interest there are also several ethnic tribes
of the Stieng, Ma, Ta Lai and Cho'ro tribes who have lived in the central valley
of the reserve for several centuries, and several hundred people are currently
resident.
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City– Nam Cat Tien (L, D)

At 07.30 our guide will pick up from hotel and drive to Nam Cat Tien. After
lunch our guide and lead you to visit the park. This park covers 36,500 Hectares
of lowland forest and swamp and is home to numerous birds and mammals. Afternoon
trek into the forest. Have dinner in a local restaurant that serves passable
food located in the camp. After dinner take a night drive into the park using a
spotlight to view nocturnal wildlife. Over night in air-conditioned park lodge.
Day 2: Nam Cat Tien (B, L, D)
Morning drive then trek to crocodile lake with plenty of opportunities to see
many varieties of bird life and if you are lucky the chance of a larger mammal.
Supported by the WWF, projects include surveying the small population of Javan
rhinoceros, that still exist in the area the last remaining population on main
land. Other mammals include Elephant, Gaur and tiger. Many birds can be found,
including such specialities as Germain's Peacock Pheasant, Bar-bellied Pitta and
the rare endemic Orange-necked Partridge. Late afternoon return to the park
station.
Day 3: Nam Cat Tien – Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)
Morning boat trip along the river to view wildlife on the riverbank. After lunch
return to Ho Chi Minh and transfer to the hotel.
