Ba Be Lake is the biggest one in northern of Viet Nam . It’s 8 kilometer long, 3
kilometer wide, 20m -30m deep and narrow in the middle. There are two small
islands emerging in the middle of the lake. One of them looks like a horse, so
it is called An Ma. Ba Be Lakes area has a lot to offer, including waterfalls,
rivers, valleys, lakes, and caves all set amidst picturesque landscapes. Ba Be
Lakes, located 145 meters above sea level, are among the largest natural lakes
in Vietnam with a total surface area of 500 hectares. Many ethnic minority
groups live around here: Tay, Dao, H’Mong, Nung. There are also numerous
historical vestiges of Mac, Tay Son dynasty.

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival (D)
Arrive in Hanoi. Transfer to hotel. Take the rest of day enjoying Hanoi, the
peaceful city with boulevards shaded by big green trees, with lakes and parks
and ancient relics. Dinner with Hanoi’s delicious specialty of Cha Ca La Vong
followed with Water Puppet Show. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi– Bac kan (B, L, D)
Depart 7.00 am by van to Ba Be (6hrs). Coffee break for a visit to Vietnam Museum
of Ethnology in Thai Nguyen city. Then we stop for lunch in Bac Can town in a
small restaurant. Arrival in Ba Be around 3 p.m. Short walk in PM (1 hr) in the
Nat’l. Park along the lake’s side to Pac Ngoi village, check-in the home stay
and dinner with local food will be served here. Sleep in the village.
Day 3: Ba be lakes (B, L, D)
Brekkie, then whole day visiting the beauty of the area on the local canoes
(rafts) gliding along the river and through the pretty cave. We get lunch served
near the waterfall after visiting it. After lunch then we canoe our hearts out
into the tranquil Ba Be lakes for its majesty. The followings is swimming and
trekking sometimes to visit the ethnic minorities. Dinner then free to learn
about the local people. Overnight homestay.
Day 4: Trek to remote village (Whole day trek) (B, L, D)
This is a great walk up hills to the very remote villages of H’Mong, Dzao and
Tay villages. Picnic lunch and back to homestay or stay in the hotel in the
National park of Babe.
Day 5: Ba be – Bac Can – Hanoi(~240 km) (B, L, D)
More canoeing then breakfast served by the lakes, swimming. Leave for Hanoi by
10.00 am, lunch on the way at noon. Arrive in hotel by 5.30 p.m.
Day 6: Hanoi Departure (B)
